will hyde hits yet another bullseye with heartfelt bop "over u."

Our obsession with Melbourne’s most exciting new pop export will hyde is no secret by now. He has absolutely come out swinging in 2020, with his first two bangers “easy for u.” and “meant to be.” stealing our hearts instantly. Not one to quit while he’s ahead, will has now revealed another hit, this time with a more acoustic slant: “over u.”.

A gorgeous blend of the influences of Dominic Fike and Rex Orange County, this track is still stunning in its production, but reveals a more stripped back side to will’s music. It starts out with a simple acoustic guitar line, then quickly transitions into a funky bop with tonnes of layers. The way will does his phrasing is out of this world, and the lyrics hit the spot of relatability effortlessly. We are absolutely loving it.

Let’s hear about the track from the man himself:

“when i wrote this song i had been away from home for quite a long time,” said will. “that space had given me a lot of time to think about everything. including the past. i noticed there were certain relationships that i was holding onto & it meant that i was not being present. the only times i was present was when i was in the studio. that’s the only time i could really enjoy…

so i got out of the shower one morning before a session with liam quinn, and had a melody in my head - the chorus of what would be ‘over u.’. in the second verse i really am just sort of stating the frustration i was feeling - like, ur driving me insane. i’m driving me insane. the way i got full clarity was using this song as a point to be like, okay, i’m gonna start making sure i’m bringing myself back to this present moment now. i gotta make a change and stop thinking about these relationships in my life."

will has also announced his debut EP “with u in mind.”, set for release in October this year via Pack Records; the boy does not stop!!

With every song so far being absolutely world-class calibre (our fave is definitely still his killer debut “easy for u.”), we can’t wait to hear the rest of the EP.
