will hyde is back again with groovy piece "meant to be."
We are happy to introduce you to a delightful groovy pop piece from one of our favourite new artists. Will Hyde is stepping back into the spotlight again with his new single “meant to be”.
“meant to be”, is an authentic masterpiece with gorgeous lyrics, that starts off sombre and then transitions smoothly to a captivating bass line. It is a song that would go down well with an espresso martini at some beachside bar just as the sun begins to set.
“‘meant to be.’ is about thinking u are over someone, only to see them and realise u still have a lot of feelings left in that relationship,” said will. “i think that that comfort and connection i have with someone never really fades over time. there's always feelings that i have left with that person that can come back up and make me remember the good times. i find it hard to let people go and really detach myself from relationships completely... so this song really is about an inner conflict with myself… i am sometimes so optimistic that it blinds me to the troubles at the root of the relationship. getting back with that person & allowing them in my life doesn’t mean i would have a different outcome with them. it’s hard to face the root causes to the breakdown, but it’s the only way to move on from it.”
Shedding the commercialised skin of his teenage musical project SŸDE, which saw success to the tune of over 65 million streams and nearly 1 million monthly listeners on Spotify alone, will is finally able to flaunt his boisterous personality in a solo project that glides beyond genre or hype. His new music shines with texture and a relatable balance of joy and melancholy that his early ventures couldn’t evoke on their own.
His first solo release, “easy for u.”, which we LOOOOVED, has already generated excitement from pop tastemakers around the world, including triple j Unearthed, Wonderland Magazine (UK), Project U TV, PileRats and more. The music video is just gorgeous, and the fashion gives us huge Harry Styles vibes.
We can’t wait to discover more music from will - he keeps surprising us!
