Relatable Queen Lola Scott Returns With Another Banger “4E Jobless”
Talk about kicking off the new year with a bang, or a banger shall we say. Lola Scott is once again serving us all things relatable in her first single of 2021 “4E Jobless”, an exploration of leaving the dull passionless jobs we reluctantly or forcefully use to get by. Retiring in her twenties, indie-pop pioneer Lola is proving that following her career in music is no plight.
Liberating herself from the draining nine to five world, Lola is dishing out summer synth soaked tunes. Complete with her signature blazing breathy vocal layering, “4E Jobless” emits total, prototypical Lola Scott nonchalant energy.
“I wrote this song about the first time I had properly quit a job with notice, and made the decision to go full-time focusing on music,” said Lola. “At the time I was working for one of my best mates. I was so shit at my job & the only reason I didn’t get fired was because she was the manager. When I was writing this song, I was joking about how I’d decided to retire this early in life, and wondering how long it would be until I ran out of money and came back begging for my job.
I’ve had plenty of people throughout my life ask when I was going to stop playing in bands and get a ‘real job’. My family were never those people, but I was always encouraged to have a back up plan, and had many people assume music was a hobby. I’ve seen this same story play out with a lot of my musician friends and their families, so I hope people can relate to this one.”
Lola’s path only continues to broaden with every release, opening more doors with the next. Since launching into her solo career in 2018, Scott has already amassed praise from highly notable tastemakers at triple J, FBi, Purple Sneakers, and Music Feeds, setting her position in the industry up for greater good.
“4E Jobless” is just a hint of Lola’s forthcoming EP “¼ Life Crisis”. Something tells us that we won't be the only ones eagerly awaiting her next release.
