Lola Scott Masters Her First Collab With Mel Blue - “I Wanted To Call Her But I’m Tragic And She’s Overseas (8 Months)”

Adding more anticipation to her upcoming EP, Lola Scott has just dished out her latest single “I Wanted To Call Her But I’m Tragic And She’s Overseas (8 Months)”. The first collaborative project for the indie pioneer, this track features friend and electronic-pop phenomenon Mel Blue.

Pairing Lola’s velvety vocals with the melodic chimes of Mel Blue, these two are a dream team. Adding indie-pop styled instrumentation with Mel Blue’s signature electronic components, “(8 Months)” takes the best of both realised artists, together making a stunning piece of pop perfection.

Throughout the past year or so Lola has coined a style of her own, with her charming ability to comment on the issues and topics so prominent among young people with great wit and lovable quirks. “(8 Months)” is no exception to the rule, Lola has taken Oscar’s (Mel Blue) experience from his long term partner moving overseas and made an eccentric alternative-pop banger.

“After a billion d n m’s & songs written about my life this session we delved into Oscar’s (Mel Blue) love life & drew inspiration from his experience in a long distant relationship. We talked about how we’d both get into relationships even if logically they were unlikely to work out. All the different little things you could do to try to make something work but in the end you are either on opposite sides of the world or from my perspective just dating someone who is from an alternate universe. Even though everything is against you being together there’s still part of you that wants to fake that the relationship is fine because you like how that person makes you feel.”

Lola is quickly making a name for herself with her endearing spirit and striking talents in vocals, writing lyrics and instrumentation. Scott’s most recent single “4E Jobless” from the forthcoming EP which premiered on triple j’s “Home and Hosed” received an amiable amount of praise, having been awarded triple j Unearthed artist of the week, as well as being featured on Amnplify, Milky, Good Intent, AMR Australia and Happy Mag. The track has also been a favourite among community radio stations FBi, Radio Adelaide and 4ZZZ.

“I Wanted To Call Her But I’m Tragic And She’s Overseas (8 Months)”
is taking us closer to Lola’s forthcoming EP. After hearing this one, it couldn't come soon enough.
