Foley’s Latest Single is Beyond Doubt “Better Than Love”
Dynamic dyad Foley return with their latest hard hitting electro-pop single “Better Than Love”. They say the best things in life come from a place of love, the best friend team behind Foley are certainly attesting to that with this track.
Carefully crafted with slow building verses and an explosively punchy chorus, “Better Than Love” is the consideration of the promise of love faced against the probability of heartbreak. A pensive reflection, the song looks at being vigilant and guarded in a new relationship, a position that may hinder the natural progression of love or fend off the disappointment of heartache.
Ash Wallace and Gabriel Everett, the best friend team behind Foley, are making use of their comfortable closeness to get to a point of vulnerability and openness with one another to turn it into music, a sound that sounds effortlessly magnetic and mesmeric.
“This song was incredibly therapeutic for me - coming from a place of fear and mistrust and finally saying it out loud,” said Ash. “Gabe has been in a relationship for a long time, and by comparison being thrown into something completely new and terrifying, it's the first time the two of us have had really contrasting experiences like this in our writing. When you have been hurt in the past you get into the mindset that nothing can be as good as it seems. I felt at one point like I shouldn’t try anymore because the way I built love up in my head could never be reached in reality. Self-sabotage is really powerful and you end up manifesting disappointment instead of hoping for something great”
Since emerging in 2017, Foley has been an almighty force within their stomping ground New Zealand and beyond. After spending the last year perfecting their sound, it seems the duo has struck gold with this latest track “Better Than Love”.
