'One Foot In Front Of The Other' in the race to hear Ben Gillies new single
The unique sound of Ben Gillies continues to grow and inspire, with his second single “One Foot In Front Of The Other”. Shortly after the release of his debut solo hit “Breathe in, Breathe Out”, Gillies has released a dark, folk-rock influenced track, infused with brassy saxophone and rhythmic percussion.
The Silverchair drummer has been working on his forthcoming body of music for the last five years, and these latest two singles present a decisive statement of Gillies’ captivating tone colour. The song mirrors that of a dark fairytale, with no resolution but plenty of intrigue. Drawing on keys and the jazzy saxophone to build an atmospheric echo, the trak is mesmerising.
Starting drums at the age of 8, Gillies is no stranger to performing, both singing and playing many of the instruments heard on his tracks. He draws upon his experience with not only drums, but also guitar and piano, all instruments he has played since childhood, which gives him the freedom to explore and create in the studio.
Gillies’ debut solo track, “Breathe In, Breathe Out” was premiered by Double J, and received praise from NME, Rolling Stone, Tone Deaf, The Music, Scenestr and WSFM. “One Foot In Front of The Other” is sure to acquire just as much praise, making Ben Gillies a well-known name in the industry.
