The Paper Kites release anticipated weather-beaten ballad 'Without Your Love'
Since the release of their first EP in 2011, four albums later The Paper Kites have solidified their position as one of Australia’s premier indie-pop acts. Featuring ARIA Award winner Julia Stone, the band have returned with their new single “Without Your Love” which is nothing short of amazing.
The track serves as another example of the world-class talent that has seen the band approach 4 million monthly listeners on Spotify, and 1 billion streams worldwide. Thoughtful in its songwriting, with gorgeous and melodic harmonies, we have been able to get an insight into the bands 5th studio album, Roses, set to release in 2021. The Paper Kites explain how Julia Stone was pivotal in the making of the bands sound, used as more than just a featured vocalist on the track:
"I grew up listening to Julia's music and some of her work was really pivotal in turning me down the road I went - so to approach her and have her love that song and want to sing on it was an amazing full circle moment - she's such an important figure of the folk revival in Australia and I don't think we would be a band without them leading the way. It was a real honour to work with h“Without Your Love” comes after the band was awarded Platinum certification in the US and Canada for their fan-favourite single “Bloom”, which now joins the track’s Platinum certification in Australia on their list of achievements. The Paper Kites have since opened for the likes of Passenger, City and Colour and Bombay Bicycle Club, and completed a number of local and international headline tours, selling out rooms like the Fonda Theatre (Los Angeles), Paradiso (Amsterdam), and the historic Forum Theatre (Melbourne).
The band have released a track which gives us a taste of their weather-beaten ballads and rain drenched pop, enough to satisfy our needs whilst we await their upcoming album.
