Maggie Andrew Reclaims Her Freedom With The Release of "ILMIHM"

LA-based pop artist Maggie Andrew shows us her darker side with her latest single “ILMIHM”. Meaning “I love me and I hate myself”, this song puts into words the negative feelings we can harbor towards ourselves.

Maggie’s vulnerability on the track is admirable. She sings about the conflicting feelings of confidence and hatred that can occur in so many of us. The depth of  “ILMIHM” extends to its sonic aspects. The deep, thudding beat is reminiscent of a heart beat; bringing this track to life.

As Maggie herself said, “I want this to be a segue for people to know they’re not alone, they have someone, I’m here. I read and answer all of my DMs. I want the women and men who are all going through things to know I’m in your corner. I’ve been through it. For the longest time I felt like I didn’t have a voice, and communication was a skill that I lacked because of an abusive boyfriend who would yell over top of me. I’m not a victim of anything that happened to me; all those people are losers. Now I’m here. This is my calling to be here and to be this person who is a strong symbol of someone who can go through all that trauma and still be powerful.”

By taking advantage of her platform and creativity to spread an important message, Maggie Andrew has shown the integrity that she has as an artist. She’s taken the risk and spoken about taboo topics like abuse because she wants to emote with her listeners.

Accompanied by an in-depth musical, visual experience that’s inspired by her personal life, “ILMIHM” is a perfect example of Maggie’s talent. Her creativity and willingness to bear it all has left us impressed!
