Maggie Andrew Completes Her Musical Trilogy With "Survival Mode"
Maggie Andrew has released “Survival Mode”, a deeply personal single completing her musical trilogy. The LA-based songwriter and creator opens up to her listeners once again; this time with a song that will definitely hit close to home.
Maggie accompanies her powerful vocals with a soft piano that allows the lyrics to be the main focus of the track. She sings about the difficulties of feeling alone and the other negative feelings that arise when someone is in that isolated head space as a result of painful experiences.
"I’ve been in a constant state of survival for as long as I can remember. Being alone drowning in my own self deprecating thoughts and traumatic experiences,” said Maggie. “Even though it’s sad, it’s comfortable being alone, I never want anybody to feel bad for me. Survival mode was a release of a lot of heavy emotions and a very honest unapologetic expression of self."
“Survival Mode” is beautiful and by far the most stripped-back and vulnerable installment of Maggie Andrew’s trilogy. Maggie’s willingness to open up about her emotions, including the dark ones, continues to impress us. She uses music as a way to express her feelings regarding the personal experiences that have had an impact on her; even if they’re deemed as “taboo”. We love what she’s done with her music so far and can’t wait to hear how else she challenges herself and the industry.
