yung sum Opens Up With New Single "people think I'm okay, i'm not"
Bedroom pop powerhouse producer Michael (Mikey) Rodriguez, proficiently known as yung sum, has treated us once again to an original piece that he wrote, produced, performed, mixed, and mastered all by himself: “people think i’m okay, i’m not”.
The single meshes together pop and hip-hop with a bouncy beat and catchy lyrics. "people think I'm okay, i'm not" speaks for itself with the title. Michael expresses his personal struggles while still keeping things light and relatable to his listeners.
"I wrote this song because I was going through a difficult time, struggling with depression and anxiety, and just not feeling like I was worth it for anyone,” said yung sum. “This song isn't supposed to be "eyes on me," but more of a message of acknowledging that it's okay to not be okay. The writing was pretty fun though, I just came up with an idea and main melody, and thought it was a perfect medium to share true beliefs, while maintaining a high energy, "banger" feel.”
yung sum is no stranger to experimenting with multiple genres of music. It’s allowed him to create songs like "people think I'm okay, i'm not" that are honest, but still fun for him to create and for his fans to listen to. This snappy tune is part of the multiple unique releases from Rodriguez, with a guarantee of more coming soon.
