Nuria captures the essence of young love with her newest release “Closer”

.Tasmanian artist Nuria captures the essence of young love with her newest release “Closer.” The indie-pop artist brings in her piano skills to recreate the magical feeling of falling in love and uses her vocals to put listeners in a trance. The beat is reminiscent of an actual heartbeat; bringing this song to life. Every element embodies love at a young age. Much like this song, it can put you in a daze.

“Closer looks at those primal adolescent feelings of first love and desire. I remember that time - feeling completely overcome by these crazy emotions,” said Nuria. “No longer a teenager myself, I see girls during that time and I find myself intimidated by their intensity. It’s such a wild time that will always fascinate me.”

Nuria’s lyrics express the intense emotions that come with falling for somebody during a time in your life when you’re naive and experiencing these types of feelings for the first time. It can be overwhelming, but also euphoric. It’s a little intimidating, yet still beautiful and fascinating. 

The passionate feelings encapsulated in “Closer” come as no surprise.  Anna Maynard chose the stage name Nuria from her childhood. It’s a name that means “Fire of the Lord” speaking of passion, boldness and capturing a spirit unhindered by the constraints of growing up. Listening to the song feels like listening to an abundant free spirit speak. 

Nuria’s past and current work has proven that she has a talent for perfectly expressing her feelings through her music. “Closer” depicts her strengths as a singer, songwriter, and pianist. With an album due to come out this year, we can’t wait to see how else Nuria opens up to her listeners.
