Luke Daniel Peacock Turns on the Melancholy with New Single "The Odd Specifics"
We first introduced you to Luke Daniel Peacock a month or so ago, when he released his single “Give Me A Reason”. This 80’s, synth-drenched number certainly brought the party, and set us up with a pretty clear idea of where Luke Daniel Peacock was coming from with his solo stuff.
Now we have another single to enjoy, the expansive and melancholy “The Odd Specifics”, which earned a coveted premiere on triple j Unearthed yesterday. Combining the vintage-soaked sonics we know Luke for with a genuine, heartfelt lyricism that few are able to master, this track is a gorgeous effort that we are fully on board for.
“The Odd Specifics was written out of frustration in witnessing so much of our world in the hands of fools,” said Luke. “It’s calling out neglect in many forms, but focusing on the attitudes, the ghosting and the lies that have become commonplace in Western culture.. It’s examining how life has become about whose lie and whose smile is the most convincing.”
Since the birth of his new solo project, Luke has been continually praised by the upper echelons of Australian music media, including NME Australia, triple j Unearthed, PileRats, The Music, Tone Deaf, and The AU Review.
Despite clear influence from the likes of New Order, The Cure, Animal Collective and Chvrches, Peacock’s music is individuality personified, born of experimentation and nostalgia.
We can’t wait to see what Luke Daniel Peacock brings out next - as we’ve heard there’s more to come this year! Watch this space.
