Little Green Shares Her Top 5 Female Artists She Is Loving Right Now
Last week we shared our review for Little Green’s stunning new single “Mothers Daughter.” The track shines Little Green’s talents with her intimate vocals, honest storytelling, and bluesy sax, all supported by an electronic-pop production bed, to convey a dark, yet healing message, a soundscape that was able to come to life with the help of Jordan Leonard.
”I wrote this song in character… absorbing all the mother daughter relationships around me, I realised the generational trauma we experience as women. This story is about the complex, yet unbreakable bond between a mother and daughter, and the healing power of forgiveness,” shared Little Green.
“Mother’s Daughter” shows off just how much Little Green has grown into uniquely her own sound, and now she has shared her top 5 female artist that she is loving right now. Check it out below…
Top 5 other female artist you are loving right now…
Vera Blue
Vera Blue has to be my favourite topliner of all time. I love the way her folk melodies soar over punchy electronic pop songs. I recently watched her new live show that fuses electronic and orchestral elements and was completely mind blown. There was a real harp on stage! I am super excited about how her music is evolving but her first EP ‘Fingertips’ will always be special. Those songs are woven like a musical thread through my entire journey as an artist.
Kate Bush
Kate Bush has always been intriguing to me as an artist, so I have started listening to every album in order. I while ago I had a ‘Wuthering Heights’ obsession. I listened to the song, watched every interview about it, read the book it was inspired by and then went deep diving into her entire catalogue. The B side of ‘Ariel’ titled ‘A Sky of Honey’ recently made a big impact. There is one part where she sings along with a bird, imitating its jumpy chirp. Her music is so wonderfully weird and extremely sophisticated at the same time. She is an icon.
Sasha Sloan
Sasha Sloan is a recent discovery for me. ‘House with No Mirrors’ and ‘Is It Just Me’ have been on repeat in my car non-stop ever since my friend played them for me. Her music makes me feel like I am not alone, expressing so perfectly the feelings I can’t explain. I love the stripped back production and intimate sounding mix, as well as her authenticity as a human.
Taylor Swift
I am literally obsessed with the new stuff from Taylor Swift. ‘Folklore’ and ‘Evermore’ just speak to my soul.
Odette
Odette is on another level artistically. I listened to her new album ‘Herald’ on the train home from the Blue Mountains and had this feeling of being transported to another dimension. Everything feels more meaningful when Odette explains it, and amazingly the production matches it, creating this poetic masterpiece infused with an inspiring kind of melancholy.
