Dylan Cartlidge Gets His Groove On With Latest Single "Molasses (Walk The Walk)"
Dylan Cartlidge is giving us the perfect new addition to our Summer 2021 playlist with his latest single “Molasses (Walk the Walk)”. Following his second EP “Yellow Brick Road'', released in early 2020 , Dylan is back to strike while the iron is hot.
Rich with all things sweet and summer, “Molasses (Walk the Walk)” amplifies a happy-go-lucky spirit characterised by Dylan’s blissful beats and harmonies. Heavy with layered vocals and a unique blend of pop, hip-hop and up-beat soul, “Molasses (Walk the Walk)” is a truly unique listening experience.
“The song is about slumps and moments of demotivation in life. I wrote this song at a particularly tough time when I was experiencing burnout after getting home from tour,” says Dylan. “It's like going through bouts of purgatory where you almost feel like the person who set themselves all the goals, dreams and ambition is no longer at the steering wheel. You find yourself scrambling to find that part of yourself again or prepare to fake it till you make it, on the road back to finding yourself.”
Dylan’s heart and home belong to a small town in the North-East of England. In a time where he was stuck in misfortune he was recognised and signed to Glassnote Records in 2018, giving hope and optimism. Cartlidge has been long known for embracing the phrase "Hope Above Adversity" as his motto to live by.
“Molasses (Walk the Walk)” follows a massive 2020 for Dylan Cartilage. “Yellow Brick Road” produced by James Dring (Jamie T, Gorillaz) released early in 2020 knocked down many barriers, setting Dylan up for a great year of success. Since, “Yellow Brick Road” has become Dylan’s biggest streaming success to date, as well being supported by Radio 1’s Jack Saunders, Annie Mac and Huw Stephens, spending 8 weeks on Amazing Radio’s A-List, being supported by John Kennedy at Radio X, Tom Robinson on 6Music and Matt Wilkinson at Beats1.
We hope that “Molasses (Walk the Walk)” is setting the tone for more releases from Dylan Cartilage in 2021, because this one is an absolute groove.
