We'll See You on the Other Side with Blanco White
Beloved English music mogul Blanco White has enchanted us once more with his new single “On the Other Side”. The anecdotal sentimentality of the song’s lyrics integrates effortlessly into White’s compelling vocals, warm, melodic guitar and subtle percussion. The result is a perfect harmony of melancholic yearning; “On the Other Side” - the ideal track for grey winter weather and stormy days indoors.
“I think it was those childhood memories and an early connection with Andean music that made me want to seek out the charango and begin experimenting with it, even if I wasn’t sure what form that experimentation would take,” said White.
The accompanying music video for “On The Other Side” is stirring and atmospheric, depicting a lone motorcyclist approaching on a dimly lit highway. “On The Other Side is a mysterious piece where from the beginning to the end it is not known what will happen,” said video director Javier Lara. “Dozens of thoughts lurk inside the head of the protagonist throughout the song (where the eyes of the viewer coincide with the protagonist), to finally be in vain. Throughout the day we think of thousands of ideas that only harm us psychologically, occupy space in our mind and above all generate bad living.”
Blanco White is the solo project of Londoner Josh Edwards in 2014. After studying guitar in Cádiz (Spain), and later the Andean instrument the charango in Sucre (Bolivia), Edwards’ aim was to begin bringing together elements of Andalusian and Latin American music alongside influences closer to home. The result is beyond exotic; it's otherworldly. His creations have been compared to Bon Iver. He released his self-produced debut EP ‘The Wind Rose’ on Yucatan Records in early 2016. He recorded his second EP ‘Colder Heavens’ later that same year, with producer Ian Grimble (Bear's Den, Matt Corby, Daughter), and released it last spring to critical delight. ‘The Nocturne’ EP was released on the 29th September 2018.
