Bec Stevens Releases New Single "A Stranger" and Big Album Announcement!
Melbourne-based singer-songwriter Bec Stevens treats her fans right with some extra good news today! She has revealed the date of her upcoming album BIG WORRY is 17th March 2023. The announcement came alongside Bec’s new single, “A Stranger”, via Damaged Record Co.
“A Stranger” confronts one of the most difficult feelings of dating in an upbeat rock anthem that takes control and commands your attention. The track is woven with powerful lyrics that reflect on negative memories, “When I’m near you, I can’t breathe. I’m not nervous; I hate the things you’ve done to me.” The lyrics are driven by a sound that delivers enthusiastic energy, which keeps your mood up, looking to the future and your feet moving.
Speaking on the track, Bec says, “This song doesn’t hide behind much. It’s about overcoming being made to feel like you’re hard to love, but particularly with the help of people who now care about you with an ease that felt deeply unfamiliar for a long time. It’s told in retrospect, hinging on a series of realisations. When I wrote this song, I thought it was about a specific person, but I realised it related to many people who have walked in and out of my life. This song is my guilty pleasure. This song is my version of a cat slowly pushing something off a bench top while making eye contact with you... it felt like the hugest weight off my shoulders to give myself permission to speak.”
She has been hard at work crafting her next project and honing her talents. Bec’s upcoming album has already begun to grab the attention of the Media with the first single, “Big Worry,” recently being added to the full rotation of triple J. “There's a reason Bec's so well loved in the Aus music scene, and with songs like this, the fan club is only going to keep expanding.” Declan Bryne.
