Wollongong Rockers OK Hotel Deliver A Beer-Slangin' Banger
We are super excited to introduce you to a new discovery this week - Wollongong indie-rockers OK Hotel. If you like Dear Seattle, TOTTY or CLEWS, you need these guys in your life, and we reckon their latest single “Life’s Crazy” is their best yet.
The track hits the bloody nail on the head, with a perfect blend of fuzzy guitars and genuine lyrics ripe to raise your beer to. Not to mention, it’s produced by one of Sydney’s best indie producers at the moment, Fletcher Matthews, who is responsible for the gorgeousness of Sweater Curse, as well as absolute world-class hits like “Mt. Pleasant” by STUMPS.
We love how real and raw this track sounds - you can imagine the guys writing it on a sunny afternoon in someone’s garage with an esky alongside them, just jamming out and having fun. It’s definitely going to be one to crowdsurf to, once we’re allowed to sweat and breathe all over each other again.
OK Hotel have been steadily gaining local support up and down the east coast, supporting the likes of Pist Idiots, Ruby Fields, Horror My Friend, and more. While drawing influence from fuzz-fuelled 90’s bands like Smashing Pumpkins, the band’s hook-driven choruses cement them firmly in the present.
With their debut record “Swim” earning immediate praise on triple j, these young’n’s have swiftly made a name for themselves as proponents of beltable, heart-on-your-sleeve alternative rock, and we can’t wait to see what they do next.
