Michael Leonardi Releases Beautiful New EP “Silhouette”
Michael Leonardi takes us on a beautiful path through his latest body of work, “Silhouette”. This emotional EP invites us into the heart of the Sydney native.
The single “Haunting Me” that was released last month was our first peek at what Michael had in store for listeners with this intense EP. With 5 songs, including a cover of “Twenty Years” by Agustana, Leonardi has managed to capture his experiences in love and in life as someone who lives it a little differently.
Being legally blind, Michael has become aware of how much we rely on sight to validate our experiences. He has embedded the energy of his journey as an artist and as a human into “Silhouette”, allowing us to feel through those moments with him even though we weren’t there to see them first hand. The title track is deeply personal, not only because it embodies heartbreak, but also because Leonardi uses the loss of sight in a literal and metaphorical sense. He continues drawing inspiration from his pain, love, and loss with every song. Each time surprising us with swelling instrumentals and vocals that make your jaw drop. Inspiring us to move forward (“Water Under The Bridge”) and validating our shared human experiences during hard times (“Mirror”).
Michael began his musical journey at the age of 15 at Sydney’s National Institute of Dramatic Art (NIDA) in the musical Les Miserables and continued with his studies of opera and classical music. In 2015, Michael signed a recording and publishing deal with the leading Italian independent label Sugar Music, currently distributed by Universal Music Group. Starting off in the music industry at a young age has given Leonardi the chance to travel the world and perfect his craft with some of the most talented musicians.
His life experiences and willingness to be vulnerable are what makes Michael Leonardi’s music special. It is impossible to not be captivated by his introspective songwriting and expressive vocals. His history with classical music is very present in this EP as he uses layered instruments paired with modern production to exhibit his talent as a singer and songwriter.
