Jordan Laser Reveals Divine Dark Pop Single “Slow Motion”
Sydney’s alt pop paragon Jordan Laser has just returned with her heavenly new single “Slow Motion”, a true godsend. Plunging deep into the heartstrings, this track is a delicate nod to fleeting love and the sentiment that corresponds. Enforcing the song's meaning, Jordan’s vocals are that of an aching angel, urging the listener to undergo all of what she is enduring.
“Slow Motion is about wanting to re-capture a feeling you had with someone now that it’s gone. But more than that, it’s a plea for reassurance that the love actually meant something, despite the deception.” said Jordan.
Fulfilling Laser’s dream collaboration, she partnered up with Australian Indie Rock legend Adam Spark of Birds of Tokyo for the production of “Slow Motion”. “I contacted him [Adam] in 2015 because I loved some of his collaborations and really wanted to meet him/work with him on something. I had most of the parts for 'Slow Motion' but they'd just been sitting there half formed. He helped arrange the song and added the post chorus hook. I didn't really have a plan when I got to his place but within a few hours we had this incredible demo.”
“Slow Motion” follows the release of Jordan’s 2020 single “Battleship” which received recognition and praise from numerous leading music media platforms. “Battleship” was described as “a silky, self-aware track built on a backbone of alt-rock” by Tone Deaf and was given a 4 star rating by Triple J’s Home and Hosed host Declan Byrne.
Jordan has been pursuing music with fierce dedication since she was a child. At the age of 7 she began playing piano; by the time she was 13 she was writing songs. Her first EP was recorded with Jim Moginie and Rob Hirst from Midnight Oil, and these songs established her as an artist with a promising future. She then stepped away from releasing music & live performance in order to expand her sound palette and recast herself as a producer.
Laser is having a grand introduction into 2021 with “Slow Motion”, we can only hope she has more big things in store.
