Ivy Adara Releases Latest Pop Track "Apartment No.2"

Australian-born and Los Angeles-based singer and songwriter Ivy Adara has released her follow up pop track from “Strangers”, titled “Apt No 2.”.

Channelling early 2000’s hip hop in the rhythm section of her latest release, she has kept the production mainly simple to give the lyrics space to be felt and a platform to cut through. The track consists of Ivy’s consistent stunning and raw vocals accompanied by a small amount of emotive instrumentation, including electric guitar and strings.

“Apt No 2.” is a song about living in a world so painful sometimes the only option is to run away, exploring escapism as both reality and remedy. Ivy moved into an apartment numbered “2” when she moved to LA and it quickly became her safe space in the middle of a dark and isolating city. She thought it would be an interesting way to describe finding your safe space in life.

“This one was not easy to write. The song follows the journey of a sister and brother who were raised in a broken home. They grow to rely on each other by creating a parallel universe where, unlike the world they live in, they are deeply loved and valued. I wrote this at a time when I was doing some serious self reflection and I wanted to honour the sibling bond I had with my older brother and sister. I wanted to write a song that gave voice to the reality that for some, because of shared difficulty, our brothers and sisters became our best friends,” said Ivy Adara.

After being sent a guitar loop from her friend Jae Green (Justin Bieber, Machine Gun Kelly) she wrote the lyrics and melody and then sent what she had to her friend DallasK (Lauv, Fifth Harmony). Dallas produced the song, marrying the sound of an authentic, raw bedroom recording with the clean, ethereal melodic layering that is so true to Ivy’s sound.

“Apt No. 2” is just the beginning of what seems to be an exciting lineup of releases for the songstress.
