RAKEL Has Released Her Latest Track “Something”
RAKEL has released her latest track “Something,” which is set to take you on a journey through her angst-filled journey through love. The song, which is a part of her 2022 album While We Wait, speaks about giving something of yourself rather than nothing when not being ready to jump head first into a relationship.
“Something” starts off as a soft love song filled with a soft vocal over a continuous guitar line. As it progresses, it builds with passion as well as instrumentation. The punk song is evidently filled with so much emotion that you can feel through the speakers.
Speaking on the track, RAKEL says “The song is an absolute love song. I wrote it when I was starting a new relationship and it maybe describes the feeling when you are still a little bit trying to keep the ball and not quite ready to say everything you are thinking out loud. So the song was such a temporary outlet for all these delicate and silly feelings.”
RAKEL continues, “I had a bit of a hard time sharing the song with people to begin with because it was so full of new and sensitive emotions. In the end, I gathered my courage and took it with me on a visit to my good friend and musician, Axels Flóvent. I wanted the song to be both quiet and powerful at the same time, a bit like my feelings at the time. They were very loud and strong but at the same time not ready to be exposed, I wanted to try to reflect that in the world of sound. Axel and I put the song in a kind of shoegaze world and then I recorded it with another talented friend, Hafstein Þráinsson, who plays guitar and bass in the song. We must not forget Svanhildur Lóa, but she played the drums.”
With this joint album, While We Wait, the songstresses wanted to create a platform to test themselves in new worlds of sound and explore more aspects of themselves as musicians. Blessing us with the love song, “Something”, RAKEL has given us pure vibes that we can jam out to. We can’t wait to hear what else RAKEL has in store in her upcoming album While We Wait.
