The Glorious Sons Announce Duo Release of "Hold Steady" & “I Will Destroy The Void In You”
Two-time JUNO Award-winning rock band, The Glorious Sons have announced a duo single release. “Hold Steady” and “I Will Destroy The Void In You” have very different vibes, but are both equally impressive.
Their initial release “I Will Destroy The Void In You” shows us a different side of the band. They’ve switched it up from their well known heavy rock energy to give us a slow, introspective tune with some twang and acoustic elements.
“This one’s just a few chords and some confessions. It’s one of my favourites we’ve ever recorded,” shares lead singer Brett Emmons. “I was hoping to avoid taking it to the peak, and somehow still keep it interesting. Koster was hugely important in landing this plane. It’s a way that nobody has heard us sound before.”
To contrast, “Hold Steady” is carried by the signature sound of the band’s electric guitar and drums that bring the lyrics to life. With a blues element, a sprinkling of piano and riffs that carry the words of Brett Emmons, “Hold Steady” is an exposé of their rock roots.
Speaking of the single “Hold Steady,” lead singer Brett Emmons shares, “the chorus is one of the oldest things I had kicking around in my head. We actually tried to find a home for it on The Union, but it wasn’t until a few months back, when I finished writing that bluesy, acoustic riff that you hear at the top of the song, that the melody and chorus just kind of popped back into my head and found its forever home.”
The Glorious Sons have evolved to the next stage of their career; showing us their wide range of talent and emotional depth.
