Reb Fountain Brings Delicate Folk-Rock Realness on Debut Album
After the success of singles “Samson” and “When Gods Lie”, NZ local Reb Fountain has finally revealed her highly-anticipated debut album today, and it is absolutely beautiful.
Reb is a real free spirit, a wanderer at heart; and you can imagine her frolicking in fields of flowers as readily as taking the mic in a smoky dive-bar. The album showcases this amalgamation of folk and alt-rock influence perfectly, creating a simultaneously mellow and mysterious listen. You’ve got the mesmerising and alluring vocals that Reb has become known for atop pulsating folk instrumentation.
Her country roots certainly shine through, but integrated with a new tough and tense sound; her raw and palpable voice carries you through lyrical dramas of disillusionment and disbelief.
This album brings together the influence of poets like Patti Smith, alt-rock musicians like Nick Cave, new folk artists like Angus and Julia Stone, and soul and blues acts such as Howlin Wolf and Muddy Waters, to create something all of its own. We love it!
