Nuria is Giving Elegant Indie Energy in Her Latest Single “Red Velvet”
Nuria is taking on a more alternative sound in her latest track “Red Velvet”. Still remaining the master of classical piano and contemporary vocals, this song incorporates indie pop energy creating a playful, spirited impression.
A story of a showgirl, “Red Velvet” is a flawless lyrical telling of the depth and private insights of a showgirl who presents as all glitz and glamour on the exterior. “Red Velvet” embodies the concept that there is more than what meets the eye.
“Red Velvet is a song about the external observation of self - observing the roles that we play in our life and the component of performance in our every day,” said Nuria. “The song considers the perspective that we are our own most important audience members and that we owe ourselves honesty and integrity in the way we live our lives. This concept is illustrated through the story of showgirl with her glossy exterior contrasting with glimpses of her vulnerable inner world.”
“Red Velvet” was written and recorded in Nuria’s home studio, produced by Melbourne artist Sam Phay and mixed and mastered by Peter Holz (Gang of Youths, The Veronicas, Jessica Mauboy, Delta Goodrem). The associated film clip by award winning Tasmanian filmmaker, Daniel Peek, is shot in Hobart’s iconic Theatre Royal and stars five dancers from the local burlesque group, The Moonlight Aviators.
Nuria is the stage name of Tasmanian indie pop artist Anna Maynard. Pronounced NOO-ree-ah, this name from her childhood meaning “Fire of the Lord” speaks of passion, boldness and captures a spirit unhindered by the constraints of growing up. A seasoned performer, Nuria has appeared across the stages of many festivals and alongside numerous talents.
“Red Velvet” is proving Nuria’s versatility and flexibility to bounce between genres and still remain her own unique self. Keep the good stuff coming!
