Kirklandd Continues to Get Into Our Feels With Brooding Track "Feel Alive"
Canberra artist Kirklandd continues to treat us to a delightful hip-hop hybrid with his latest track “Feel Alive.” The tune serves as the second installment of his The Love Divide trilogy, following the first chapter “SIIYE.”
With clear references to emo-influenced hip-hop stars Juice Wrld and Post Malone, in addition to pop-punk pioneers blink-182, the melodic and contemplative track highlights a new trap-punk direction for Kirklandd, who is already an established face in the Australian hip-hop and alt-pop scene. It’s clear that the rapper -- real name Daniel Kirkland -- has spotted the potential of emo rap/hip-hop and is tapping into the market at the perfect time.
All three of his trilogy of singles have been produced by prolific producer Cam Bluff (Amy Shark, Hilltop Hoods, Illy), mixed by Citizen Kay and mastered by Xiro (Clypso, Kwame). Through these collaborations, it’s quite clear that Kirklandd has quickly evolved from his hip-hop roots into a fully-formed pop artist.
This latest release comes after the announcement of the National Live Music Awards nominees, which saw Kirklandd nominated as Best Live Act for Canberra for the second year running. His live prowess has been showcased in his recent The Love Divide Experience livestream performance of his single “SIIYE”.
In lieu of an in-person tour, the possibilities of which have been inevitably affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, Kirklandd is conducting a virtual tour for his trilogy of singles alongside a decadent eight-piece band. The tour is taking place in partnership with Support Act to raise money for their COVID-19 emergency relief fund, which has been set up to help those in the music industry affected by the pandemic. The second performance of The Love Divide Experience for “Feel Alive” is being streamed on October 3rd.
We are loving Kirklandd’s new vibe, and we can’t wait for the third installment to arrive and bless our ears!
