Andy Bull proves that six years was worth the wait with highly anticipated track ‘It’s All Connected’
“It’s All Connected” is hard evidence that Andy Bull’s hiatus was time well spent. It’s been 6 years since the 2014 album ‘Sea of Approval’. Waking up from hibernation, Bull lets us know that he's not one to be slept on.
Andy Bull fans rejoice! Because it really is all connected. All these years later Bull has stayed true to his synth filled alt-pop sound. Rest assured that the unique vocals that we all know and love haven't aged at all. Phew!
Kicking off Bull’s new chapter, we’re given a confessional insight to a gloomy love story. ‘It’s All Connected’ shares a narrative of two individuals, united, though possibly evolving in their personal journey that thereby makes them incompatible. It’s an anecdote we’re all familiar with and probably hits too close to home for many listeners. “Is this who we will always be?” is the burning question that Bull chimes, reflecting the denial of inharmonious times, playing them off as temporary troubles.
“Am I talking to myself?” contemplates Andy melodically at the opening of the chorus, encapsulating the one sided effort of sustaining the relationship. Talking to himself may be betokened to the endeavour of effort that is not reciprocal.
‘ [This song is] about the difficult but hopeful possibility of positive change, which can only occur when we lay down our histories at the feet of love’
Heavy and heart aching are the lyrics, but the instrumentation and melody are totally dance worthy.
We’re left on a bittersweet note with the fade out of ‘it wasn't for a lack of trying,’ but all we can taste is the sweetness of Andy Bull’s return.
