Georgia Van Etten releases new single “I’d Like To Be”.
Reminding us of love’s most courageous moments comes Georgia Van Etten’s new single “I’d Like To Be”. Melbourne born and UK based, Georgia releases her second single in anticipation of her upcoming album “Deep Black Water”. Masterfully produced, the track features her smooth and resonant vocals in the poetic form of telling someone how you feel about them.
Six years ago Georgia packed a small suitcase and headed from her hometown in Melbourne, Australia to the UK. Since then, she has established herself as an international artist, touring across the UK, Europe and Australia to headline at festivals. Her debut EP Live at the Pool Studio had extensive international and BBC Radio 2 play with Jamie Cullum remarking “this really blew me away when I first heard it”, and Blues & Soul Magazine UK declaring “Put simply, this is a damn fine EP”.
“I’d Like To Be” explores the courage it takes in facing potential rejection, and the bravery behind being honest. Infused with heartfelt lyrics, silky and soulful vocals, Georgia puts her heart on the line in a signature blend of harmonic jazz and alt-pop infusion, skillfully perfected.
Accompanying the laid back track, is a fierce and feel-good video that features eight of Australia’s top, young contemporary dancers. Melbourne-based dancer and choreographer Sian Kelly gave direction to the dancers with help from dancer Jazz Miller to enable moments of synchronicity and whilst Georgia provided visual and artistic direction. Georgia says, “I knew this was going to be a special and authentic video. It took me an age to pick out all the best parts and put them together in an edit, but worth the time as the result is a truly collaborative video that showcases some of Australia’s best, young dance talent”.
If her upcoming album is anything like what we have heard from her latest single, we are sure to be blown away. “I’d Like To Be” is a tune we will be bopping to for a while!
